Big Third Inning Leads Excelsior Classical Academy Past Durham Academy
Excelsior Classical Academy (ECA) scored eight runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Durham Academy 11-1 on Friday. JonLuke Harper tripled, scoring two runs, Hamilton Malott doubled, scoring one run, Will Miller singled, scoring one run, Jamal Middleton was struck by a pitch, driving in s run, Sidney Schreiber singled, scoring two runs, and Harper doubled, scoring one run.
ECA opened the scoring in the bottom of the second thanks to two singles. ECA first got on the board when Miller singled, scoring one run.
Miller earned the win for ECA. The right-handed pitcher gave up six hits and one run over 5 innings, striking out three and walking two. #14 led off on the bump for Durham Academy. He surrendered nine hits and 11 runs (seven earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking five.
ECA tallied 10 hits in the game. Malott, Harper, and Miller each collected two hits for ECA. Schreiber, Harper, and Middleton each drove in two runs for ECA. Sebastian Myers stole two bases. ECA turned one double play in the game. ECA was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Harper made the most plays with six.
#13 went 1-2 at the plate as he led Durham Academy with one run batted in. #14 went 2-3 at the plate to lead DA in hits.
After a bye this Monday 5/6, ECA will face the winner of the Voyager/Oxford Prep game in the TNAC Conference Tournament Semifinals.
