ECA defeats Voyager Academy to advance into the Tournament Championship Finals
Excelsior Classical Academy was triumphant over Voyager MS Vikings 9-4 on Wednesday.
ECA got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after JonLuke Harper singled, and Sam White hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Voyager Academy took the lead, 4-2, in the top of the second thanks to two errors.
ECA captured the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the fifth when Hamilton Malott doubled, scoring two runs, and Jayce West singled, scoring one run.
Liam Dippolito earned the win for Excelsior Classical Academy MS. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit and four runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking none. Cohen Rappleyea stepped on the bump first for Voyager MS Vikings. The righty allowed two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out one and walking five. Sidney Schreiber tossed two innings of shutout ball for Excelsior Classical Academy MS in relief. The righty allowed three hits, striking out one and walking one.
Malott drove the middle of the lineup, leading Excelsior Classical Academy MS with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Harper and Miles Derby each collected multiple hits for Excelsior Classical Academy MS. Schreiber led Excelsior Classical Academy MS with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game.
Brennan Basiliere seized on his opportunities, leading Voyager with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. Charlie Glenn, Rappleyea, Dylan Haswell, and Bentleigh Vollers each collected one hit for Voyager. Voyager turned one double play in the game.
ECA advances to play in the Championship game vs Vance Charter this Friday.
