MS Baseball vs. Vance Charter- Thursday, April 28, 2022

Excelsior Classical Academy watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 20-1 loss to Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS on Thursday.  Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS scored on a double by Devin Wallace, a single by Shane Wilson, a walk by Thomas Tucker, and a single by Austin Dethmers in the first inning.

The Excelsior Classical Academy struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS, giving up 20 runs.

Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS got things moving in the first inning.  Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS scored two runs when Wallace doubled.

Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS scored nine runs in the third inning.  Shawn Thomas Journigan, Nate Martin,  Wilson, Parker Byrum, Collin Hughes, and Journigan each drove in runs during the inning.

Dethmers toed the rubber for Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS. Dethmers surrendered one run on two hits over four innings, striking out nine.

Cameron Harper was on the pitcher’s mound for Excelsior Classical Academy. The pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, allowing seven runs on two hits and striking out one.  Hamilton Malott and Henry Sloop entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one and one-third innings respectively.

Sloop and Brayden Mottola each managed one hit to lead Excelsior Classical Academy.

Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS totaled 13 hits.  Wallace and Journigan all had multiple hits for Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS.  Wallace led Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS with four hits in four at bats.  Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS didn’t commit a single error in the field. Martin had  nine chances in the field, the most on the team.
