MS Baseball vs. Vance Knights (Conf. Championship) – Friday, May 13, 2022

Brayden Mottola was an RBI machine on Friday, driving in six on three hits to lead Excelsior Classical Academy past Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS 19-1 on Friday.  Mottola drove in runs on a home run in the second, a single in the fourth, and a single in the fourth.

Excelsior Classical Academy secured the victory thanks to 12 runs in the fourth inning.  The big inning was thanks to singles by Mottola, Henry Sloop, Thomas McDermott, Ryan Dippolito, and Griffin Kovalesky,  by Hamilton Malott and Cameron Harper, a walk by Sebastian Myers, and  by Wren Hash.

Excelsior Classical Academy fired up the offense in the first inning, when Hash singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Excelsior Classical Academy notched 12 runs in the fourth inning.  Excelsior Classical Academy big bats were led by Mottola, Hash, Sloop, Malott, McDermott, and  Myers, all driving in runs in the inning.

Mottola toed the rubber for Excelsior Classical Academy. Mottola lasted five innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out three.

Austin Dethmers led things off on the hill for Vance Charter MS KNIGHTS. The bulldog surrendered ten runs on eight hits over three innings, striking out three.  Devin Wallace and Shawn Thomas Journigan entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and one-third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

Excelsior Classical Academy socked two home runs on the day. Dippolito had a long ball in the fifth inning. Mottola put one out in the second inning.

Excelsior Classical Academy scattered 15 hits in the game.  Harper, Mottola, Dippolito, Sloop, and McDermott each had multiple hits for Excelsior Classical Academy.  Dippolito, Mottola, and Harper each managed three hits to lead Excelsior Classical Academy.
