Excelsior Classical Academy Claims Victory Over Oxford Prep

Excelsior Classical Academy wins contest against Oxford Prep on Monday,  5-4. In the first inning, Excelsior Classical Academy MS got their offense started.  An error scored one run for Excelsior Classical Academy. Oxford Prep evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning when Currin doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. After Excelsior Classical Academy scored one run in the top of the fourth, Oxford Prep answered with one of their own.  Excelsior Classical Academy scored when Hamilton Malott singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Excelsior Classical Academy pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning.  In the second Patrick Browning singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run and Jon Luke Harper singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Harper got the start for Excelsior Classical Academy. The righty surrendered four runs on three hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out nine.

Abbott started the game for Oxford Prep. Abbott allowed two hits and four runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two.  Riddle threw two and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.

Harper went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Excelsior Classical Academy MS in hits.
