Excelsior Classical Academy Takes Victory Against Oxford Prep in Pitcher’s Duel

Both teams were strong on the hill Thursday, but Excelsior Classical Academy defeated Oxford Prep MS 2-1 to win the TNAC 1A Conference Tournament Championship for the second year in a row. Jon Luke Harper allowed just five hits.

Oxford Prep fired up the offense in the second inning, when Wamsley singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Excelsior Classical Academy pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning.  In the third Cannon Close singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Harper was on the pitcher’s mound for Excelsior Classical Academy. Harper went six innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out four.

Preddy toed the rubber for Oxford Prep. Preddy went three innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out one and walking zero.  Abbott threw three innings out of the bullpen.

Jaden McIver, Close, Hamilton Malott, Patrick Browning, and Sammy White each collected one hit to lead Excelsior Classical Academy.
