Excelsior Classical Academy Defeats Triangle Day School
In a battle of 1-loss teams, ECA was victorious over Triangle Day School 8-3 on Monday.
ECA got on the board in the top of the first inning after Sidney Schreiber walked, Hamilton Malott singled, Sam White singled, and Collin Mottola singled, each scoring one run.
Hayden Sloop earned the win for ECA. The southpaw gave up two hits and two runs over two innings, striking out three and walking five. Brayden Ross opened the game for TDS. He gave up seven hits and six runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking one. White threw two innings of shutout ball for ECA in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit, striking out one and walking none.
Malott, Miles Derby, and White each collected two hits for ECA. Malott, Will Miller, Mottola, Schrieber, Derby, and White each drove in one run for ECA.
Ross drove the middle of the lineup, leading TDS with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-1 on the day. Madden Cooney led Triangle Day School with two hits in three at bats. TDS has a strong eye at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Webb Travis and Patrick Dean led the team with two walks each. TDS turned one double play in the game.
