Excelsior Classical Academy Clinches Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Durham Academy

Excelsior Classical Academy nabbed the lead late in the game in an 8-7 victory over Durham Academy on Saturday. Durham Academy was down 8-6 in the top of the fifth inning when Conor doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Excelsior Classical Academy earned the victory despite allowing Durham Academy to score six runs in the third inning.  Durham Academy’s offense in the inning was led by #11, Eric,  Kyle, Conor, and Elliott, all knocking in runs in the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Excelsior Classical Academy tied things up at six.  Jaden McIver drove in one when McIver singled.

Excelsior Classical Academy notched four runs in the fourth inning.  Hamilton Malott and McIver powered the big inning with RBIs.

Sammy White led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Excelsior Classical Academy. The righty surrendered six runs on six hits over three innings, striking out one and walking one.

Austin was on the pitcher’s mound for Durham Academy. The bulldog surrendered seven runs on four hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four.  #21 threw one and one-third innings in relief.

Patrick Browning led Excelsior Classical Academy with two hits in two at bats.  Griffin Kovalesky led Excelsior Classical Academy with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases.

Durham Academy collected nine hits.  Conor, Kyle, and Elliott all managed multiple hits for Durham Academy.
